Superintendent Message on COVID-19

Earlier this week Governor Asa Hutchinson announced in his daily news conference that there will be no additional on-site educational instruction for the 2019/20 school year.

The Gosnell School District has begun sharing plans with teachers, parents, and students on how to complete any unfinished business for the school year. As Leaders of your school district, we understand the importance of these tasks, but we also understand the sensitive nature of ending the year so abruptly, and under such downhearted and challenging conditions.

To the Class of 2020, as we go through these unprecedented /trying times, you have led this school in such a positive way. Your ability to carry on has helped us all to develop resilience. Seniors who have met the requirements to graduate and are in good standing are finished with all coursework. We will contact you individually to inform you of your standing.

It is with a heavy heart that the leadership team must make a few decisions moving forward. We do not make these decisions lightly or without the deepest consideration for our seniors and their families.
1. Prom has been cancelled.
2. Jr./Sr. Banquet has been cancelled.
3. 2020 Graduation has been postponed. (We are working endlessly in brainstorming ideas to keep the ceremony process.)

All students K-11 will continue with AMI plans through the remainder of the year. Teachers will be communicating with each student to evaluate work and give feedback. Feel free to communicate with any and all personnel as needed.

We know that there are many questions still out there in relationship to Chromebooks, Yearbooks, grades, and normal last nine weeks items. We will continue to communicate at all levels to establish guidelines to answer these questions. I wish to end by saying that first and foremost: Be safe!! Take care of your families and do your best with any remaining work.

“The Pirate family will work through this and we will come out stronger.
